Unmasking Brain Injury

D.D.’s Story

I had a headache. My granddaughter called 911. Later I learned about my 6-hour surgery. There was bleeding on the brain in four places. I don’t remember any of this. I was taken to LMH. LMH had me airlifted to KC. There I was transferred to St. Luke’s and operated on.

The railroad tracks represent the surgical scars. The round holes are where holes were drilled through the skull. The black marks represent depression; the orange marks represent hope. The mouth represents sadness.
