Ashley’s Story
In 2007, at the age of 18, I survived a hemorrhagic stroke due to an AVM (arteriovenous malformation that I was born with.)
I displayed how I feel after the stroke. I am constantly fighting to get out the right words, and it is always a battle. It is also hard to be seen as injured after this brain injury, so I have to not only remind other people that I am but I also have to remind myself to look past the outward appearance. I have stars coming from the forehead to signify the beauty that is inside and beginning to show.
