Unmasking Brain Injury

Steve’s Story

I received my TBI from an auto accident, and had a coma for several weeks. After recovery, I couldn’t walk, and my speech is and has been impaired.

The green line in the forehead represents the time before the injury. Below the mask is white with grey squiggly-lines representing my affect. The voice over the mouth upside-down represents trouble communicating verbally. The cognitive label on the forehead upside-down represents current cognitive short comings. The label above the line that says “bring it all back” representing me wanting to get better. Label under my chin that says “simple pleasure” represents where I am now.
